Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos congratulated Albania on the progress in the negotiation process and praised the reforms undertaken by the country. At a joint press conference with Prime Minister Edi Rama, she said that the closure of Chapter 20 brings benefits to small and medium-sized businesses in Albania.

"Albania is one of the leaders of this impressive progress that we are achieving today thanks to the great work of Albania and the support of the member states, we are closing another negotiating chapter. Small and medium-sized businesses are the backbone of the Albanian economy, reforms and Chapter 20 brings real benefits to them. Albania is bringing its industrial policies closer to the EU, especially new technologies. These are essential to build a stronger Albanian economy that is ready to develop in the EU single market" , declared Kos.

According to her, Albania's ambition to complete reforms by the end of 2027 must include everyone, as EU membership is a national objective.

"I want to congratulate Albania on another achievement and you, Madam Minister, dear Delina, this is your achievement. Albania has set itself the ambitious goal of completing the reforms by the end of 2027, we support this ambition, but to achieve this, Albania must deliver results, especially on the fundamentals, and this must include everyone, as EU membership is a national objective. Albania's future is in the EU, together with you, Prime Minister, we are making it a reality ," she emphasized.
