Ads appearing on Instagram and Facebook can be annoying for users, but thanks to a new plan from the company "Meta", this will change. The company will offer users in Europe a subscription package to use Facebook and Instagram without ads, in line with European Union rules.
Monthly subscription packages for EU users will cost 9.99 euros for Internet users, while I-phone and Android users will have to pay 12.99 euros per month.
EU regulations are hampering Meta's efforts to personalize ads for users without their consent and harming the company's main source of revenue.
At the beginning of this year, the company "Meta" was fined 390 million euros for privacy violations. The Irish Data Protection Commission banned the company from forcing European users to accept personalized ads based on their online activity. Previously, the company "Meta" relied on obtaining the consent of users to process their data and provide them with personalized advertising.
With the entry into force of 27-nation EU privacy rules, known as the General Data Protection Regulation, the company changed the legal basis on which it processed user data by adding a clause to its terms of service for advertising , which effectively forced users to agree that their data could be used.
