Turkish showbiz shaken: Arrest warrant issued for Serenay Sarıkaya and others

A large-scale anti-drug operation in Istanbul has shocked the Turkish showbiz industry, after the Bakırköy Public Prosecutor's Office issued arrest warrants for 25 people, including well-known names in the screen and music industries.

According to local media, the list of suspects includes the famous actress Serenay Sarıkaya, singer Mabel Matiz and artist Berkay Şahin. The investigations are related to a wide-ranging action against suspected drug trafficking networks, including use and facilitation of consumption in various environments.

Turkish authorities say the investigation has uncovered cocaine trafficking networks suspected of entering via sea routes, as well as possible drug production structures in several areas of Istanbul. As part of the operation, searches of homes, taking statements and biological examinations of all those involved have been ordered.

Serenay Sarıkaya, who was abroad at the time of the operation, has not been detained by the authorities. She has publicly responded by stating that once she returns to the country she will face justice and will complete all legal procedures. The actress has also emphasized that she received the news during a previously planned trip and that she is calm, denying any direct problems.

Investigations are still ongoing, while the case has caused numerous reactions in Turkish media and social networks, due to the involvement of well-known names in the entertainment industry.
