English and Scottish fans run out of Boston beers, pubs forced to close doors

The incredible influx of fans forced some pubs in downtown Boston to close their doors four hours earlier than usual, after beer stocks ran out.

The unusual situation occurred on the eve of the match between England and Ghana, which ended with a score of 0-0. At the same time, Scottish fans were leaving the state of Massachusetts, where their national team had played the first two matches, to move to Miami for the challenge against Brazil.

Although the rivalry between the two fanbases is well-known, their meeting in Boston took place in a festive atmosphere and without incident. No arrests or clashes were reported, and the rivalry moved from the stadium to the bar counter.

The peak of consumption was reached on Sunday evening, when Hennessy's pub, located opposite the city hall, and the White Bull Tavern were forced to cease service at 10 p.m. after selling out. Normally, these establishments stay open until 1:30 a.m.

Consumption figures over the past few days show the scale of the phenomenon. In The Dubliner pub, which has become the main meeting point for Scottish fans, 120 kegs of Tennent's beer and 160 kegs of Guinness were consumed in just one week.

In total, this translates to nearly 34,000 glasses of beer served during the week, a figure that has left many Boston bars without reservations.
