Our solar system will put on a show for space fanatics this week. All seven planets will be visible in the night sky.
Venus, Mercury, Saturn, Jupiter, and Mars can all be seen in order with the naked eye starting at the southwestern horizon and moving eastward.
However, Uranus between Mars and Jupiter and Neptune between Saturn and Jupiter can be seen through binoculars or a telescope.
All seven planets will appear in the night sky as tiny points of light to those who will see them in the northern hemisphere.
Tonight they appear just 1.5 degrees apart and reach conjunction, their closest point – on December 29 at 10 p.m. These two planets will no longer be so close to each other until 2024.
