Sharon Stone recently opened up about being overlooked by Hollywood after she suffered a stroke in 2001.
During THR's “Raising Our Voices” event, the 65-year-old actress shared how she 'fell out' of the entertainment industry after her health disaster.
Speaking to the audience, Stone discussed how her stroke left her largely forgotten in the country.
“I also faced a diversity issue. In 2001, I had a stroke and my chances of survival were only 1%. "I experienced a brain hemorrhage for nine days," the actress initially said.
She then revealed that she spent seven years recovering from a stroke and has since been unable to secure acting work.
"When it first happened, I chose not to share the news because I knew any personal setbacks could jeopardize my career. Unfortunately, something went wrong for me and as a result I have been sidelined for the past two decades. There was a time in my life when I was a very successful movie star," she added.
"Diversity can encompass more than one aspect. If you are someone who represents diversity, you have to claim your place in this industry", said the famous actress closing her speech
