A sinkhole said to be up to 100 meters deep and as wide has opened up in the middle of a football field in the US, "swallowing" a large light pole.
The collapse, in the center of Gordon Moore Park in Alton, Illinois, occurred over a limestone mine, according to local reports. No injuries have been reported, but all sports and events scheduled to take place there have been cancelled.
"No one was on the field at the time and no one was hurt and that's the most important thing," Alton Mayor David Goins said.

Fortunately, the incident did not occur while the pitch was being used. The affected area has been secured and experts are examining the damage and carrying out repairs.
Gordon Moore Park is home to eight tennis courts, a golf course and 19 soccer fields in total.
