Tre muaj më parë ai kishte kurorëzuar martesën e tyre, por gjithashtu prifti i Brignoles, në Francë, pati një histori erotike me nusen.

Historia u bë publike të dielën e kaluar kur priftërinjtë mësuan se Don Gerson Peres, protagonisti i historisë, duhej të linte udhëheqjen e kishës së Saint-Sauveur për shkak të përfshirjes në një tradhti bashkëshortore.

The couple got married in the church after 17 years of cohabitation and the husband was shocked.

He told French newspapers: “I am a very religious person, I even have a tattoo of the Virgin Mary on my left forearm. I lived with my wife for 17 years. We raised two children together. I got married in church three months ago. I wouldn't have imagined what happened."

"Father Gerson left the parish of Brignole on Friday August 23. He presented me with the resignation which I accepted. He lived in flagrant opposition to his commitments, especially that of celibacy," read the letter to parishioners from Monsignor Touvet, co-bishop of Fréjus-Toulon.

"Father Gerson had an inappropriate relationship with an adult woman who was married. I found out a few days ago. It was a real shock," the letter said.

Don Gerson Peres është hequr nga komuniteti lokal, por vetëm Vatikani mund të vendosë për rolin e tij në kishë. “Kisha është e mëshirshme por ruajtja e statusit të priftit nuk vendoset në nivel dioqezan. I takon Romës të vendosë”, sigurojnë nga dioqeza franceze.
