A space scientist has claimed that he knows the best points to look for alien life.

Universe Toray reports that Benjamin Zuckerman, an already retired American astrophysicist, believes that small, dense stars called the White Dwarfs may be home to advanced civilizations.

In an article last month, he argued that the latest improvements in telescope technology mean we can now easily identify alien sites.

The controversial theory of Prof. Zuckerman assumes the existence of Dyson Spheres, which experts have been searching for for decades.

These are theoretical structures that can be constructed by extraterrestrials around a star in order to reap its energy.

Of course, a Dyson sphere has never been found and there is no evidence that it exists.

However, if they do, structures would be a distinguishing feature of an intelligent civilization able to utilize the resources of a planetary system.

Zuckerman, a former UCLA professor who has published hundreds of papers and books, believes the White Dwarfs represent the best chance of finding one.

White Dwarfs are quite ubiquitous in our galaxy, said Prof. Zuckerman, and emit a lot of heat.

That heat could potentially be absorbed by a Dyson sphere structure and empower an alien civilization, he asserted.

Astronomers argue that infrared data already collected by recent satellites could be scanned for signs of alien life.

These satellites include the Spitzer, WISE, TESS and Kepler telescopes, writes The Sun.

"The hypothesis has been raised that advanced technological civilizations will build giant space colonies and supporting infrastructure to orbit their stars," wrote Prof. Zuckerman.
