France bans iPhone 12

France has ordered Apple to stop selling the iPhone 12 due to excessive emission of electromagnetic radiation. The French watchdog also told the tech giant to fix existing phones as well.

The French authority has advised Apple that if it cannot fix the problem through a software update, it must recall every iPhone 12 sold in the country. The World Health Organization has previously sought to allay fears about radiation emitted by mobile phones. It says on its website that there is no evidence to conclude that exposure to low-level electromagnetic fields is harmful to humans.

The iPhone 12 was first released in September 2020 and is still sold worldwide.

In a reaction to the media, Apple said it was contesting the decision of the French authorities and that it had provided the regulator with laboratory results from the tech giant itself and third parties, which show that the device complies with all relevant rules. He said the iPhone 12 was allowed worldwide as it complies with regulations on radiation levels.
