What did people from all over the world click on Google the most in 2023?

California-based tech giant Google has released a roundup of the most frequently asked questions of 2023 in its regular "Year in Search" feature, highlighting memorable pop culture moments, the loss of beloved celebrities and tragic news with global consequences.

In the news domain, the top search was the ongoing war between Israel and Hamas, according to Google's global data, followed by questions about the Titanic submarine tragedy in June, as well as the devastating earthquakes in Syria and Turkey in February.

The most Googled person this year was Buffalo Bills quarterback Damar Hamlin, who suffered a heart attack on the field during a game in January but has since returned to NFL games with much fanfare.

The other is actor Jeremy Renner who survived a serious snowplow accident in early 2023.

Late actor Matthew Perry and singer Tina Turner lead searches for celebrities who have passed away.

In the field of entertainment, the movie "Barbie" dominates this year's Google searches from the world of film, followed by "Oppenheimer" and the Indian thriller "Jawan". The simultaneous release of the films "Barbie" and "Oppenheimer" in theaters in July, which generated so much interest, created a cultural phenomenon called "Barbieheimer", combining the names of the two films.

In television, "The Last of US," "Wedneseday" and "Ginny and Georgia" are the top three shows Google users were interested in in 2023.

For music, the main search was for the song "Idol" by Joasob. It was followed by Jason Aldean's 'Try That in A Small Town', which climbed the charts after controversy this summer, and then Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53″ by Shakira and Bizarap.

And that's just the tip of the iceberg of Google's top search trends. Inter Miami, the new home of Argentine superstar Lionel Messi, led the way in Google trends for sports teams.

And especially in the US, many users spent 2023 wondering why eggs, tickets to Taylor Swift concerts are so expensive. The word "ritz", recently named Oxford word of the year, leads the search for the definition of a slang word.

Google said it collected search data for 2023 from January 1 to November 27 this year.
