It was foretold to come as Twitter's rival, and now it's official. Threads is successfully debuting after being introduced by Meta, the giant owner of Facebook and Instagram.
The response was huge, 10 million users in just the first 7 hours for the most dangerous competitor for the platform owned by Elon Musk. The data was revealed by Mark Zuckerberg.
In the first post on the new platform, Meta CEO and Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg wrote:
Let's do it. Welcome to Threads! We just passed 5 million registrations in the first four hours.
For the application provided by Meta, we know that codenamed "Project 92", he had been working on the launch plan for the platform for months.
But the countdown began for Threads after seeing rival Twitter in trouble. Threads, which is based on Instagram's model, offers a number of benefits, including its large user base as well as strong relationships with advertisers. In addition, all public accounts can be followed without requiring approval from the owner.
The app is available in more than 100 countries, including the United States of America, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada and Japan. But initially it will not be downloaded in Europe and this is due to the restrictive policy of data usage. Posts are limited to 500 characters, which is more than Twitter's 280 character threshold, and can also include links, photos and videos up to five minutes long.
