What are the most hospitable countries in the world? Why does South Africa top

A new study by Remitly has revealed that Greece is the second most hospitable nation in the world. Global research used the "Big 5" Personality Test to assess understanding and agreeableness between people. This result is very important for the neighboring country, as international migration increases and tourism returns to pre-pandemic levels.

The study, which rated individuals from different countries on their level of understanding, found that South Africa topped the list of most welcoming nations with 34.63 points out of a possible 40, with Greece and Croatia following closely behind.

South Africans are known for their warmth and hospitality, making it easy for visitors to feel comfortable in this country. It is not uncommon to be greeted by polite strangers while walking down the street, and the local population is noted for its social nature, coupled with its characteristic sense of humor.

With a score of 33.71 points, Greece secures the position as the second most hospitable country in the world and also the first in all of Europe. The high score in hospitality is a testament to the warmth and hospitality that visitors can expect during their stay on Hellenic soil. It is not unusual for Greeks to invite new friends to their home for a traditional meal or for locals to offer visitors a tour of the city, enriching it with stories from history and mythology.

Mexico ranked first among North American countries, taking fourth place. In fifth place we find Sweden and then Australia, while Canada, Germany, Estonia and Belgium close the ranking of the 10 most hospitable countries according to the study.

On the other hand, global powers such as the United States and the United Kingdom ranked lower on the list, placing 15th and 18th respectively. These results emphasize that smaller nations and those that do not have much global influence can lead in creating friendly and welcoming environments.
