Do you know why the horseshoe is placed on the door?
That's why it was believed that the horse horseshoe is fortunate

You have often seen a horse horseshoe placed on the door, in the car, or on the wall, but do you know why this is left ?!

There are several reasons. Starting in the Middle Ages, people of that period believed that horse horseshoes were auspicious. First they were made of iron, a metal that has long been believed to ward off evil spirits.

The other reason comes from the legend of St. Dunstan in the 10th century.

According to legend, Dunstan worked as a blacksmith, and one day the Devil went to his shop. Dunstan pretended not to know him, and went to get the horseshoes for the Devil's horse. But instead of pinning the horse to its feet, Dunstan used them to pinch them to the Devil's feet.

The horseshoes caused the Devil great pain, but Dunstan said he would remove them only if he promised he would never enter a house with a horseshoe on the door.

So from that period people started buying horseshoes even though they did not have horses and placed them everywhere believing that the devil would not cross there.

The horseshoe was believed while avoiding witches. It was believed that the reason witches traveled riding on brooms was because they were unable to ride horses. So a witch would be reluctant to enter any house with a horseshoe over the door.

But horseshoes were also carved into the masts of ships, in the belief that this would help avoid storms at sea.

The horseshoe is widely known as a symbol of happiness. Due to its association with horses, the horseshoe represents strength and reliability. To the Greeks, a horseshoe symbolized fertility.
