The Head of the OSCE Presence in Tirana, Ambassador Michel Tarran, met this Thursday with the President of the Albanian Bar Association, Maksim Haxhia, to discuss developments in the field of justice, reports newsbomb.al.

They exchanged views on the role of the legal profession in strengthening the rule of law, access to justice and respect for due process standards, as well as on the current challenges faced by lawyers in the exercise of their profession.

"The Presence remains committed to supporting the rule of law and an accountable and effective justice system in Albania, in cooperation with all justice actors, including the Chamber of Advocates," the announcement states.

It remains to be seen what the lawyers will decide in the coming days, after this meeting, since by decision of the Chamber of Advocates they have boycotted the sessions of the foundation and or for the assessment of security measures, in both special courts.

Due to the newly adopted regulation, which excludes lawyers from carrying cell phones in court sessions, and others, lawyers have decided not to participate in sessions at the Special Court of First Instance and the Court of Appeal.

The situation has created numerous difficulties and delays, also due to the cases waiting to be reviewed and judged, so interest in a new decision by the National Chamber of Advocates, led by Maks Haxhia, is high.
