Economy Minister Robert Hambeck has been named as chancellor by the Greens for the German elections on February 23.

In the vote held at the party congress in Waiesbaden, Mr. Habeck received a 96.48% of the vote.

On Saturday, November 16, Francisca Bratner and Felix Banasczak were elected as the new greens' leadership duo.

Franziska Brattner, 45, deputy minister of economy in the current government and confidant of minister Robert Hamboek, comes from the "realists" wing (Realos) and has received 78.15% of the vote, while Felix Banaszczak, a federal mp from 2021, who belongs to the left-wing, received 92.88% of the vote.

The previous leaders, Ricardo Lang and Omid Nuripour, resigned after the Greens' poor election results in eastern states last September.
