Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has called for "pressure" on Russia to agree to a ceasefire.

Speaking alongside Emmanuel Macron at the Elysee, where he is invited to a working dinner this evening, the Ukrainian president said: "We must apply pressure and the ceasefire must last as long as the Russian aggression lasts."

For Zelensky, "this is not the time to abandon pressure on Russia or to weaken our unity."

"Tomorrow we expect very strong decisions, the time has come to move towards meaningful discussions and also the deployment of contingent groups in Ukraine," Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said after meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron in Paris.

He praised the assistance that France has provided to the Ukrainian military, including the Mirage fighter jets.

"I would like to highlight France's efforts to protect itself from Russian bombing. We have seen your Mirage jets in action, and they have become part of our air shield against drones. We need a response against Russia," Zelensky continued. "I am grateful to Europe, which supports our defense. It is important that every country can develop its defense industry. The more production there is from the defense sector, the more we will save our lives," he said.
