Zelensky is surprised after the US sends him a draft agreement on minerals with
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced today that he had received from the United States a new version of the strategic minerals agreement, "completely different" from the previous one.

"The Ukrainian side officially received the American proposals today," the Ukrainian president said at a press conference, without revealing details of the new version.

According to local media, the proposal is not at all favorable for Ukraine.

Zelensky said the draft agreement is “completely different” from what he was discussing and will require further study by legal services. He added that Kiev will not accept a deal that threatens its European integration and that Ukraine will not recognize US military aid as a loan.

Zelensky also accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of seeking to prolong the war with his proposal for a "transitional government" in Ukraine, under the auspices of the UN. "Everything he does delays any opportunity to negotiate to end the war," he commented.

"Putin is afraid of talks with me," Zelensky said. He said his country would agree to hold talks with any other representative of Russia, except Putin.
