European nations are bracing for an all-out war on the continent after Ukraine fired US-made missiles at Russia for the first time, posing a real threat of an all-out war.
According to a 1,000-page document titled 'German Operational Plan', made public by the German media "Frankfurter Allemagne Zeitung", it is said that Germany will host hundreds of thousands of troops from NATO countries and will serve as a logistics center for the delivery of large quantities of military equipment, food and medicine to the front.
It is also suggested that Berlin is preparing to move 200,000 vehicles as well as 800,000 NATO troops across its territory should the situation with Russia turn into an all-out war.
The German military is also instructing companies and civilians on how to protect key infrastructure and mobilize for national defense, anticipating a situation in which Russia expands drone flights, espionage operations and sabotage attacks across Europe.
Also, businesses have been advised to create crisis plans that detail the responsibilities of employees during emergencies and will be instructed to equip themselves with diesel generators or install wind turbines to ensure energy independence.
Germany's preparation follows examples set by the Nordic countries, where brochures and emails have already been sent to millions of homes with advice on finding shelter, stockpiling supplies and rudimentary military training.
German lieutenant colonel and head of the Hamburg State Command, Jörn Plischke, is a staunch advocate of the need to prepare for a possible war in Europe and has launched an effort to strengthen Germany's industrial and agricultural sectors.
"After Russia's attack on Ukraine, a conventional war in Europe would be possible again in the next five years," the German general said from Hamburg, where the German army is conducting a military exercise.
