President Donald Trump is under fire again after a "disgraceful" birthday card allegedly signed by him was released by the estate of Jeffrey Epstein. Representatives for the late financier submitted the drawing bearing what appears to be the president's signature to Congress as part of the investigation into his crimes.

Democrats on the Oversight Committee released the draft on Monday, reigniting a controversy that has dogged the White House in recent months. Trump has previously called news of the letter “fake” and filed a $10 billion defamation lawsuit against the Wall Street Journal, which first reported it.

President Donald Trump is under fire again after a scandalous birthday letter signed by him was released by the heirs of Jeffrey Epstein.

White House officials were quick to dispute the published image and threatened to sue over the allegations. “The recent article published by the Wall Street Journal proves that this whole ‘Birthday Card’ story is false,” Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt told X. “As I have said all along, it is abundantly clear that President Trump did not draw this picture and did not sign it.”

"President Trump's legal team will continue to aggressively pursue the lawsuits," continued her statement, which sharply criticized the journalist for publishing "fake news" about "Democrat Epstein's fraud!"

Donald Trump, his then-girlfriend Melania Knauss (now Trump), Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell pose together at the Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach, Florida, on February 12, 2000.

Trump has also called the continued focus on the Epstein files a “Democratic hoax,” despite bipartisan concern about a government cover-up of the investigation. Trump suggests Democrats have the most to lose from the release of the files. The president has also complained that Democrats did not release the documents when Joe Biden was in office.

But Representative Robert Garcia, the top Democratic member of the Oversight Committee, attacked the president, claiming he was “lying.” In a statement to the Wall Street Journal on Monday, Garcia said: “President Trump called the Epstein investigation a hoax and claimed his birthday note didn’t exist. Now we know that Donald Trump lied and is doing everything he can to cover up the truth. Enough with the games and the lies, release the full files now.”

The famous birthday book is said to be a collection of messages collected by Epstein's associate, Ghislaine Maxwell, for his 50th birthday. "A friend is a wonderful thing," reads the letter, which is said to have been written by Trump. "Happy birthday — and may every day be another wonderful secret."

Maxwell, who is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence for her role in Epstein's crimes, reportedly asked her boyfriend's friends for "drawings, photos or stories" to mark his 50th birthday.

She collected and scanned the materials and bound them into an album that she gave to Epstein for his birthday in 2003. Many big names wrote messages to Epstein for his birthday, according to several journalists who are said to have seen the file.

Reports also indicate that the book contained a handwritten note from former President Bill Clinton, who had a social and professional relationship with Epstein in the 1990s and 2000s. Attorney General Pam Bondi submitted 33,000 pages of documents to the House Oversight Committee last month, which were reviewed and released by the panel, chaired by Republican Representative James Comer, on September 2, 2025.

But Democrats claim that only 3% of the documents they obtained included new information that had not already been made public by Bond's Justice Department. The new details, they said, consisted mainly of flight logs of Epstein's private jet trips inside and outside the U.S. between 2000 and 2014.

Comer also released portions of a letter the House Oversight Committee obtained from Epstein's estate on Monday. The late pedophile's lawyers noted in their letter that they are not aware of any list of clients involved in sex, sexual acts or sex trafficking facilitated by Epstein. They also said that the "Black Book," which is believed to contain addresses and contacts related to Epstein and his network, is likely in the FBI's possession.

The heirs do not own the original "Black Book," which may have been seized by the Federal Bureau of Investigation during raids on Epstein's residences in 2019.

Trump sharply criticized the Epstein investigation last Friday, in a post on his Truth Social platform. “The confused and miserably failed Democratic Party did nothing for Jeffrey Epstein while he was alive except befriend him, hang out with him, travel to his island and take his money!” he wrote.

“They knew everything there was to know about Epstein, but now, years after his death, they, out of nowhere, seem to be showing a genuine love and concern for his victims,” he continued. “Does anyone really believe this?”
