The Prime Minister of the Republic of Moldova and the President of Serbia

Serbia is planning the construction of an oil pipeline through Macedonia to the port of Durrës, as well as a gas connection with North Macedonia.

The president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, made this known in his speech to the public on the occasion of the energy crisis and the inability of Croatia and Serbia to receive Russian oil through the oil pipeline that passes through the western neighbor.

Vucic emphasized that Serbia has the largest gas reserves in the country's history.

He informed that he has made a decision that whoever produces in Serbia must allocate 20 percent for the army "because conflicts in the world will continue".

Vucic said that after the recent events regarding the EU sanctions against Russia, with which Croatia showed itself, as he pointed out, as an unreliable partner for the oil producer "Janaf", which is the only oil pipeline that supplies Serbia with oil , Belgrade made a decision to start building an oil pipeline to Hungary, and the plan is to build an oil pipeline with "friends from the Open Balkans".

"We need to start diversifying our oil resources. Serbia will start building an oil pipeline to Hungary. In accordance with the agreement that Viktor Orbán and I have already reached, we will start the construction of a Novi Sad-Hungary oil pipeline, in Aldzha, with a length of 128 kilometers. The oil pipeline can cost up to 100 million euros," said the Serbian president.

According to him, it will take 18 to 24 months to build the oil pipeline in Hungary.

"Our idea is to build an oil pipeline to North Macedonia and the port of Durrës in Albania, in order to connect our country with an oil pipeline. We will start quick talks with our partners from the Open Balkans and the region," said Vucic.

Speaking about the gas connection and diversification with gas sources, Vučić warned that the gas connection with Macedonia will also be built, which, as he said, is already included in the financial plans of the EU.

As Vučić said, Serbia has oil reserves for 75 days, gasoline for 59 days and full capacities of gas reserves.

"During this period, Serbia will be supplied with oil in different ways, we will buy Iraq's oil, which is 20 percent more expensive, and we will bring it to our country through the Janaf oil pipeline," Vucic said.

He also said that he has ordered that of everything produced by factories in Serbia, 20 percent must remain in Serbia for the armed forces and that another 12 billion will be invested in infrastructure.
