The FBI has been collecting evidence for months on what agents believe is enough evidence to charge Hunter Biden, the president's son, with tax evasion and making a false statement about the purchase of a firearm, according to foreign media.
Now, his fate rests in the hands of the Delaware state attorney, who has been appointed by Donald Trump.
Hunter Biden's lawyer said the president's son has not broken the law.
The 52-year-old is a lawyer and during his career he has worked as a lawyer in various countries, including China and Ukraine. In 2014, he was dismissed from the US Navy after being found to be a cocaine user.
The FBI has been investigating Biden's son since 2018, mainly regarding his finances and deals he has made outside the United States.
