After today's talks with Ukrainian officials in Saudi Arabia, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that "the ball is now in Russia's court."

Ukraine expressed its readiness to accept the US proposal to adopt an immediate, temporary 30-day ceasefire, which may be extended by mutual agreement of the parties and subject to simultaneous acceptance and implementation by the Russian Federation.

Rubio said Ukraine and the US have taken a "positive step" during today's talks and hopes Russia will respond.

National Security Advisor Mike Waltz adds that it is "very clear" that Ukraine shares Donald Trump's vision for peace and says that "they share his determination to end the fighting."

Speaking about next steps, Rubio says "we will present the offer" to Russia.

“We will tell them that this is what is on the table, Ukraine is ready to stop shooting and start talking, and now it will be up to them to say yes or no,” he said.

"I hope they say yes, and if they do, then I think we've made great progress," Rubio stressed.
