US President Donald Trump has added new rhetoric to the debates over the peace plan for Ukraine, changing the perception that had been created previously.

According to him, the 28-point proposal should not be seen as an ultimatum and is not absolute, as public opinion had initially interpreted.

Responding to reporters outside the White House, Trump stressed: “No, it’s not final.” He added that the war must end one way or another, stressing the need for immediate progress towards a deal, Sky News reports.

Asked what would happen if Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky rejected the plan, Trump said: "He can continue to fight with all his heart."

The US president also stressed that if he had been in office, this war would never have happened.
This latest stance significantly changes the climate, as in previous days it was assessed that Trump was presenting Zelensky with a difficult dilemma, reinforced by previous ultimatums related to US support.

Trump has demanded a response from Kiev by Thursday and has stressed his desire for the peace memorandum to be signed before the end of 2025.

What does the American plan include?

The agreement presented to Ukraine includes conditions that are considered extremely difficult for Kiev, such as the surrender of territories already occupied by Russia and additional areas that remain under Ukrainian control.

It also provides for amnesty for all war crimes committed during the conflict.

In his televised message, Zelensky described the current moment as "one of the most difficult in our history", stressing that the country is facing the dilemma of "losing its dignity or a key ally".
