A serious event was recorded in Berlin, where a 33-year-old woman was stabbed seven times by a man, in front of her two daughters.
The woman was riding the bus with her children and the terrible incident happened on Tuesday.
Citing Berlin prosecutors, the German newspaper "BILD" says that police are almost certain to have the perpetrator "on their hands." The mother was seriously injured in front of her young daughters, aged nine and seven.
The suspect was arrested at midnight yesterday on Luxemburger Strasse in Berlin's Wedding district, according to Sebastian Bichner, a spokesman for the Berlin Public Prosecutor's Office.
Initially, the police believed that the woman was an accidental victim of the perpetrator. Her two daughters had even stated to the authorities that they had never seen the bearded man who struck their mother in a fit of rage.
However, as the "Bild" newspaper writes, the police have information that the attacker knows the victim. However, until now the "status" of their relationship has not been clarified: whether it was friendly or romantic.
The attack happened shortly after 5pm on Tuesday, when the 33-year-old Berlin woman and her two daughters boarded the 'Leopoldplatz' bus in the Wetting district.
The attacker was on the bus. Suddenly, in the Gesundbrunnen district, the man rushed towards the victim, pushed aside her two children and stabbed the woman a total of seven times with his knife.
Passengers rushed to her aid with the attacker taking the opportunity to get off the bus at Nauener Straße station and become "smoke".
The 33-year-old underwent a ten-hour operation. He suffered serious injuries to his heart, lungs and stomach.
He is still in intensive care, under police protection, but escaped danger.
