A serious incident has recently come to light in Turkey, where children on the autism spectrum are seen tied to school benches with ropes. The video was filmed by a parent at a special school in Prussia, raising concerns about the treatment of children with special needs in the education system.

According to Milliyet, authorities reacted immediately after the video was published. The regional Directorate of National Education announced the start of a full official investigation, while according to local media, the case is related to a school that houses children aged 9 to 16 with autism and other special needs.

One of the parents, Tulay Gürel, the mother of an autistic child who attends the same school, described a harsh reality that – according to her – severely harms the children's well-being.

"These children need to learn in quiet and appropriate environments. There are teachers who constantly react negatively to them. My son is 11 years old and has autism. When he studied in Konya, he even drew. After moving here, the problems started. We would take the child to school and they would say: 'You can't go inside, it's forbidden,'" she confessed.

Gürel emphasized that the inappropriate school environment has severely affected her child's psychology.

"Staying in an environment that is not suitable causes great damage to him. There are teachers who display violence. This happens due to a lack of knowledge and education. They tie them up to control them," she told Turkish media.

The publication of the video has caused a wide wave of anger in public opinion in Turkey, while the authorities' investigation continues to clarify responsibilities and guarantee the protection of children with special needs.
