A freight train collided with a military vehicle in Goose Creek, South Carolina, causing extensive damage to the artillery vehicle. The crash occurred when a small trailer carrying a U.S. Army military vehicle has become stuck on train tracks.
The Goose Creek Police Department confirmed the military vehicle in the trailer was an 'M109 Paladin Howitzer' and not a tank. Footage of the incident published on social media revealed that the 18-wheeler truck was stuck on the railway crossing.
"The driver of the trailer tried several times to keep the vehicle moving but was stuck on the track. It was a devastating sight for me and my son, but we are ok," one witness said.
"It took the authorities several hours to remove the vehicle. Traffic was stopped. "We were stuck for three hours," another witness said. No injuries were reported, while local authorities and CSX have launched investigations into the incident.
