In Cesiomaggiore, in the province of Belluno, a 15-year-old girl lost her life and another was injured after a rock collapsed on them while climbing to take a selfie.

The incident took place in Busche, a town near the Piave River.

According to reports, the girls were climbing a slope when suddenly a piece of rock broke off and fell on them.

The victim was immediately crushed by the rock, while the other girl was injured with several fractures, but her condition is not serious. A third girl who was with them was unharmed.

After the event, help quickly arrived at the scene, with an ambulance from the Santa Maria del Prato hospital in Feltre and an emergency helicopter.

Firefighters searched for the girl, initially thinking she had fallen into the water. The coroner confirmed the death of the 15-year-old girl.

The Carabinieri are working to reconstruct the circumstances of the accident and have collected testimony from witnesses.

The incident has raised concerns about safety during such activities and the importance of caution when using social media.
