A tragic event has occurred on the Montalto di Castro beach, in the Lazio region of Italy, where a 17-year-old from Rome lost his life after becoming trapped in a sand pit that he had dug himself.

The serious incident occurred on a free beach, where the minor was vacationing with his younger brothers and sisters.

According to media reports, the teenager had dug a hole about one and a half meters deep for fun, but unfortunately it collapsed and trapped him inside.

At that moment, the other children had left and the boy was left alone, while their father did not understand what had happened.

When the father noticed his son missing, a search was launched in the area. Thanks to the help of the younger children, the location of the pit was identified and an effort to rescue the teenager began immediately.

However, help arrived too late. Police, firefighters, and a helicopter with medical personnel responded to the scene, but the 17-year-old was pronounced dead.

The tragedy has caused numerous reactions and calls for more caution and supervision on open beaches.
