Consequences of bad weather in the USA

Bad weather has 'stuck' the USA. Six people were reported dead after tornadoes and severe storms ripped through parts of Tennessee on Saturday.

Buildings were reduced to rubble and communities were plunged into darkness as extreme weather hit parts of the southern US state, the BBC reports.

Meanwhile, three of the deaths were reported in a northern suburb of Nashville, the state capital. So, it is reported that two adults and a child lost their lives in the city of Clarksville, about 50 miles (80.4 km) to the northwest.

Joe Pitts, the city's mayor, has declared a state of emergency, including a 9pm curfew, which will continue into Sunday.
