The Italian Foreign Minister, Antonio Tajani, announced that 11 Italian NATO troops were injured in the clashes in Zveçan with the protesters.
Tajani said that three of them are in serious condition, but out of danger for life.
"I want to express my solidarity with the soldiers of the KFOR mission who were injured in Kosovo during the clashes between Serbian demonstrators and the Kosovo police. Among them 11 Italians, 3 of whom are in serious condition, but out of danger for life. The Italian army continues to commit to peace," Tajani wrote.
The operator of Radio Free Europe photographed some of the wounded soldiers. In one of the photos, a wounded soldier is seen being carried on a stretcher during the intervention operation where tear gas and stun grenades were heard.

During the operation, tear gas and stun grenades were heard, while stones, bottles and molotov cocktails were thrown at the soldiers.

KFOR intervened to disperse the protesters in Zveçan, after warning them to disperse, but they did not obey. Protesters threw hard objects and Molotov cocktails at KFOR members. Tear gas, flames and plumes of smoke engulfed the area, while sirens and explosions were also heard.
Radio Free Europe also reports that the Kosovo Police was not present at the time of KFOR's intervention to disperse the Serbian protesters in Zveçan.
