US intelligence (CIA) officials have estimated that Russia and China are now cooperating even more closely on military matters, including a possible invasion of Taiwan, prompting the US administration to make new plans to counter the likely scenario. , reports Bloomberg .

"China and Russia, for the first time, are cooperating on the issue of Taiwan. We understood that this is an issue on which China definitely wants to cooperate with Russia, and we see no reason why not," said Avril Haines, the woman who heads the National Intelligence Service, during her testimony before representatives of Congress.

Republican Sen. Mike Rounds of South Dakota asked Haines about such a scenario during a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing. He also asked the head of the Intelligence Agency if the Pentagon plans a response to such a possibility.

Haines responded that, basically, the chances are high that if the US had a conflict with one country, a conflict would also open up with another country, which would affect planning, equipment and manpower needs.

"There is certainly a possibility that something like this could happen. The answer to that question depends on the scenario being played out,” Haines said.

Haines added that intelligence assessments show that there is growing cooperation in an 'unstoppable' partnership between Russia and China in every social sector: political, economic, military, technological.

"The Department of Defense has become even more concerned about the requirements of our joint forces in an environment where Russia and China would certainly be cooperative, and we must take that into account," Lt. Gen. Jeffrey Kruse confirmed Haines' statement.

Russia, China and Iran held joint military exercises called "Maritime Security Belt - 2024" in the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea in mid-March.
