The hospital of Peja has reacted again regarding the serious incident where a lifeless baby was put into the washing machine of the hospital together with the sheets and was taken out of it divided into several parts.

The event was tried to be kept secret, but it was the baby's father who denounced the case, which then led to the dismissal of the head of the gynecology department and the head nurse of the gynecology department, which the hospital also confirms in its announcement.

Furthermore, the Peja Hospital's reason for not providing information is that the media did not ask for it and that they also took into account the condition of the baby's mother, who was not informed about the case.

"We responsibly emphasize that despite the fact that the police have reported the case, we have not had a single request from the media for information related to this case. Undoubtedly, we also took into account the other fact stated by the family members so as not to aggravate the mother's condition even further, since she was not yet aware of the incident". - says the announcement.

The last week for the staff of the General Hospital in Peja has been very difficult, considering the case that happened with the treatment of the dead fetus. We find the opportunity once again to express our deep and sincere regret to the parents and to all the citizens all over the country who are worried and rightly outraged.

Everything that has happened is being investigated by the Prosecutor's Office since the day it became known about the serious incident. Other administrative measures have also been taken.

We are aware and have our mission to give the country news about the successes in the treatment and recovery of patients. Unfortunately, we did not succeed in this case. 

We want to assure the public opinion that no matter how serious the event is, it is without purpose, but it came as a non-compliance with the strict protocol of action in cases of handling dead fruit.

Once again, we must emphasize that we, as hospital personnel, feel the deepest regret for this event.

Despite the fact that the entire incident was unintentional and caused by the carelessness of some of our workers, this does not diminish the seriousness of the case and our regret for it.

Also, we want to emphasize that the claims that the Hospital has tried to hide this case are completely unfounded. Below we are presenting the chronology so that everyone is aware of what the justice bodies have already been informed about:

Aborti me intervenim kirurgjik ka ndodhur në natën e datës 13.12.2022, ndërsa që ngjarja e frytit të vdekur ka ndodhur më 14.12.2022. Me t’u informuar për ngjarjen, menaxhmenti i Spitalit ka informuar organet e Policisë dhe po atë ditë deri në orë të vona, kemi ofruar bashkëpunimin tonë të plotë tek Policia, Prokuroria e Inspektorati Shëndetësor që kanë qenë në vend të ngjarjes dhe në të njëjtën kohë është informuar mbi ngjarjen drejtoria e ShSKUK.

Po në këtë ditë, Policia e Kosovës ka njoftuar opinionin me një komunikatë që po e heton këtë rast, ndërsa është praktikë e njohur që për rastet e ndjeshme, me disa të përfshirë për realizim të hetimeve, informatat jipen të rezervuara.

Me përgjegjësi theksojmë se pavarësisht se policia ka raportuar rastin, nuk kemi pasur asnjë kërkesë të vetme nga mediat për informata lidhur me këtë rast. Padyshim që ne kemi pasur parasysh edhe faktin tjetër të deklaruar nga familjarët që të mos e rëndonim edhe më tutje gjendjen e nënës, meqë nuk ishte ende në dijeni për ndodhinë.

Po ashtu, kemi iniciuar procedurat disiplinore të menjëhershme nga ana jonë dhe me këtë rast janë suspenduar shtatë punonjës të Spitalit, me datë 16.12.2022, menjëherë pas identifikimit se kush ka qenë i përfshirë sipas përgjegjësisë së veprimit a mosveprimit.

Today, as a continuation of the disciplinary measures, the Head of the Gynecology Department and the Chief Nurse of the Gynecology Department have been dismissed, while we await the conclusion of all our disciplinary procedures, but especially the findings of the law enforcement authorities involved in the investigation in order to take further actions against to anyone involved in this case.

We are preparing the plan for undertaking other measures that will improve our internal organizational procedures and this will be reflected in the coming days.
