He married actress Victoria Zinny in 1982 and they have a daughter, Veronica.

Girone arrived in Albania in 2018. Evaluating the changes in the capital at the time, Girone compared Tirana to any Italian city.

"Now Tirana resembles any Italian city. I had the opportunity to go out. I went to some good restaurants. I saw the new buildings that are being built, the stadium. Many Italian architects work here who are changing Tirana, doing new things, without completely changing the old and putting it at the service of building the future", said the actor who Albanians will always remember as "Tano Cariddi".
