Missiles delivered by North Korea to Russia have been used in large-scale attacks launched in recent days against Ukraine. This is the conclusion that the White House expressed on Thursday, denouncing the continuous and disturbing escalation of Pyongyang's support for Moscow.
"Our information indicates that North Korea has recently delivered ballistic missile launch systems and several ballistic missiles to Russia, some of which were used on December 30 and January 2 in attacks against Ukraine," the National Security Council spokesman said. of the White House, John Kirby.
Kirby's comments came after North Korean leader Kim Jong Un called for increased missile production during a visit to a military equipment factory in a sign of preparation for a possible military confrontation with South Korea and the US.
According to Kirby, Russia's cooperation with the communist North further emphasizes the need for the US Congress to approve the new military aid package for Ukraine.
"Russian forces fired one of the missiles supplied by North Korea on December 30, which landed in a field in the Zaporizhia province of southern Ukraine. Then, on January 2nd, Russia launched several missiles into Ukraine in a massive airstrike. Air defense of Ukraine, which has faced a barrage of bombing from Russia in recent days, remains an absolute priority," Kirby said.
According to Kirby, Russia also plans to buy missiles from Iran. "We will impose additional sanctions on those who facilitate the transfer of weapons from North Korea and Iran to Russia," he stressed.
Meanwhile, in Washington, US President Joe Biden has also called on Congress to "act without waiting" after the massive bombing of Ukraine, but the Republicans continue to set conditions for approving new aid to Kiev.
