The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has banned US flights over Venezuela, citing "flight safety risks associated with military strikes."
The Agency also issued four Notices to Air Missions (NOTAMs) in the early hours of the morning, covering four flight information regions in and around Venezuela: San Juan, Piarco, Maiquetia and Curaçao, CNN reports.
Venezuela reported that some areas of the city were without electricity.
The Venezuelan government accused the United States of carrying out an attack on Caracas and the states of Miranda, Aragua and La Guaira. Meanwhile, President Nicolás Maduro has declared a state of emergency.
