Maduro and his wife were captured by US Delta Force

Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife have been captured by the elite US Delta Force unit, official sources have told CBS News.

According to CBS, the operation was carried out by Delta Force, the US military's most elite unit for counter-terrorism operations and high-risk special missions. Other details about the location and manner of capture have not yet been made public.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump declared on his Truth Social network that the United States had carried out a large-scale attack against Venezuela and that during this operation "the country's leader, President Nicolás Maduro, was captured," along with his wife, who were taken out of Venezuela.

"The operation was conducted in cooperation with US law enforcement. Further details to follow," Trump wrote.

He also announced that he will hold a press conference at 11:00 a.m. at his Mar-a-Lago residence, where he is expected to provide more information on the operation.

So far, Venezuelan authorities have not officially reacted.
