The co-sponsored resolution between Albania and the US for the withdrawal of all Russian troops from Ukraine and the war ban passed overwhelmingly at the extraordinary session of the UN General Assembly.
The resolution received 141 pro votes and only five against.
Among the states that voted pro was Serbia. Prime Minister Edi Rama, through a social media backlash, says Serbia's pro vote ranks our entire region at the side of the West.
In connection with this vote, US Ambassador to Tirana Yuri Kim has also reacted. "The last time the UN General Assembly voted in such a way in an emergency session was in 1982," she wrote.
The resolution was originally introduced at the UN Security Council, where it was blocked by the Russian veto. 11 KS member states, including Albania, voted pro, while three others abstained.
