Russia targets the southeast of Ukraine, 11 drones are shot down out of 24

Ukrainian air forces have shot down 11 of 24 drones that Russia launched in the early hours of February 2, authorities said. The attacks targeted critical infrastructure buildings in the regions of Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, Kirovarad and Kharkiv, the Ukrainian military said.

Regional officials said that after the attacks, over 40,000 people in the Dnipropetrovsk region were left without electricity. Nearly 100 miners were temporarily trapped in two mines due to a lack of electricity. An unspecified number of them were then taken out of the mines, authorities said, without giving further details.

Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine began in February 2022, Moscow's forces regularly attack various targets in Ukraine with various weapons, including drones, missiles and shells. Despite numerous reports, Moscow denies targeting civilian targets in Ukraine.
