Russia escalates offensive in East, Ukraine resists

Russian forces are intensifying attacks in eastern Ukraine, bringing heavy armaments and carrying out heavy artillery shelling. That's what the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces declared on Telegram.

Strikes from the sky and land continue in many areas, from Kharkiv to Zaporizhzhia, while one of the main targets appears to be the industrial city of Sloviansk in Donetsk.

"Enemy offensive forces continue to strengthen, about 300 heavy weapons have been transferred to the east and south, enemy troops are conducting operations along the entire demarcation line,", the announcement says.

According to the General Staff, Russian forces are trying to break through Ukraine's defence lines around Olenivka. Overall in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, nine enemy attacks backed down, they add. In Lugansk, the regional administration reports that the village of Zolote-3 was destroyed 70% by Russian fire.
