Russia has decided to close its airports in the northwestern cities of Murmansk and Apatity, and has also restricted the use of airspace over these cities.

TASS news agency reports that such measures are usually taken in Russia because of potential or actual Ukrainian drone strikes.

One such attack took place in the early hours of the morning, where Kiev unleashed a "rain" of drones over Moscow, in what was described as one of the biggest attacks on the Russian capital since the start of the war in 2022.

Russian authorities said they had destroyed all the drones that were headed for the capital.

So, Russia's state telecommunications monitoring service is reporting massive outages on messaging apps Telegram and WhatsApp.

It is not clear what may have caused the outages, but monitoring service DownDetector has reported an increase in reports of problems with the Telegram social network this afternoon.

Meanwhile, Russians in Kursk have been asked by local authorities to avoid online dating apps to prevent Kiev's forces from gathering intelligence.

Moscow's Interior Ministry told residents, military and police personnel in Bryansk, Kursk and Belgorod regions to avoid "online dating services".

"The enemy actively uses such sources for gathering information," the warning message on Telegram said.
