Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas has been declared a wanted person by Russia. The Tass news agency reports that the Interior Ministry in Moscow has placed Kallas on the wanted list as he is accused of "hostile actions against Russia and against its historical memory".
The State Secretary of Estonia Taimar Peterkop and the Minister of Culture of Lithuania Simonas Kairys have also been placed on the wanted list.
A Russian security source, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Russian state news agency TASS that the three are being prosecuted for "destroying monuments to Soviet soldiers" of World War II.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Kallas and other Baltic lawmakers had been added to the list of wanted persons under the Russian criminal code for "desecrating historical memory".
"These are people who take hostile actions against historical memory and our country," Peskov told reporters.
Kallas has thus been a vocal supporter of Ukraine in the battle against Russia. She has been one of the strongest voices in the European Union and NATO in favor of sending more weapons to Ukraine.
