Thaci's request rejected again, former Kosovo President remains in custody

The Special Court's College of Appeal rejected former President Hashim Thaci's request for release from detention. The Appeals Panel has stated that the preliminary procedure judge has not erroneously stated that the period Thaci has spent in detention remains reasonable.

Furthermore, in the decision to refuse release from detention, it is said that the College orders Thaci and the Office of the Specialised Prosecutor to publicly present their edited versions within ten days of receiving notice of this decision.

The accusation against Hashim Thaci, Kadri Vesel, Rexhep Selimit and Jakup Krasniqi has been confirmed on 26 October 2020.

According to the Aktakuza, between March 1998 and September 1999, Hashim Thaci, Kadri Veseli, Rexhep Selimi, Jakup Krasniqi and other members of the joint criminal enterprise had the common goal of ensuring and exerting control over all of Kosovo through methods that included intimidation, mistreatment, the exercise of violence and the illegal elimination of those considered adversaries.
