Quentin Griffiths, the British co-founder of online fashion retailer Asos, has died after falling from an apartment block in the Thai resort city of Pattaya.

A police investigator told the BBC that officers were called on February 9 after a man was found dead after falling from an 18-storey building in Pattaya, on the east coast of the Gulf of Thailand. It was later confirmed that he was the co-founder of the company Asos.

The 58-year-old was alone at the time of the incident, and an autopsy found no signs of any criminal activity. There were also no signs of break-in or forced entry.

The entrepreneur co-founded Asos in London in 2000 with Nick Robertson, the great-grandson of the suit brand's founder Austin Reed. The business started out as As Seen on Screen, before switching to the acronym Asos in 2002.

The company grew to become one of the world's largest online fashion retailers, with its designs worn by Rihanna and Michelle Obama. Griffiths left the company in 2005.

He later pursued several other ventures, co-founding online furniture store Achica, music-focused fashion retailer EBTM, and Adili, an ethical clothing website. EBTM later went into administration, while Adili was sold for a symbolic £1.

Thai police told the BBC that Griffiths had been involved in two court cases, which could have caused him stress.
