The Council of the Islamic Community in Decani expressed outrage over the formation of the "Movement for abandonment of Islam".

According to them, this movement has no good intentions and that "there are divisive elements and incitement to interfaith hatred".

Several dozen citizens, part of this movement collectively abandoned the Islamic faith.

"The Council of the Islamic Community in Decani expresses its deep indignation over the formation of the so-called "Movement for abandonment of Islam", since as it was seen and heard, it has good intentions for our society, it sees divisive elements and incitement to inter-religious hatred, as well as religious and human patience."

The reaction states that the people in Kosovo have been able to preserve and cultivate peace and interfaith tolerance, while adding that each individual is free to choose his own faith but not to make a difference.

"We remind you that our people, with the Islamic faith and other faiths, have been able to preserve and cultivate inter-faith peace and tolerance, a very precious fact throughout our history. Based on this fact, such movements have tendencies of evil and attack the excellent atmosphere built up over centuries, because this is especially the attack on Islam. Everyone is free to choose his own faith and practice it, but he has no right to divide and attack others in any way." The KBI in Decani called on citizens "not to fall prey to such manipulations, nor such disruptions", the statement said.
