Amit Bar and Nir De Jorno took this photo of themselves hiding in the bushes from Hamas militants. They thought they were going to die.
They managed to save themselves and now that image intended for their families is made public to show the drama of the Nova Festival.
"Suddenly decided to take a selfie. I got angry, I said 'what does it have to do with this moment?'. You explained to me that you wanted to do it because if we had died, at least our families would know that we loved each other until the end."
Amit Bar and Nir De Jorno are an Israeli couple. In an Instagram post they told their story, of two people who survived the massacre by Hamas militants at the Nova Festival. Amit and Nir hid behind some bushes to escape the Hamas soldiers and took a selfie there, thinking it might be their last.
They also denounce the disappearance of the friend who was with them, Ziv Hajabi, who is still missing.
"It is still impossible to sum up what we have experienced there without Zivi and until he comes home nothing will be finished. But we're here and it's a miracle."
Amit Bar is Israeli and a medical student in Kanaus, Lithuania. She had returned home to attend the festival with her boyfriend, Nir De Jorno, a native of Beit She'an, employed at a hotel on Lake Tiberias, but with a great passion for music.
One last kiss, the one between Ami and Niri, to tell those who love each other that in the face of death their love has won.
