The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, warned on Thursday about the dangers of repeating violent attacks by what he said were "criminal structures of Serbia in Kosovo", similar to the September 24 attack in the north of the country.
"Our security and intelligence institutions have recently investigated the growing risk of staging violent attacks by groups of Serbian criminal structures in Kosovo," Prime Minister Kurti said during a meeting of his government, stressing that their main goal theirs is to blame the Kosovo police and present it as an oppressive force on the Kosovo Serbs.
"To achieve this, they have not set a price ceiling. They will not choose a vehicle" , he said.
On September 24, a group of armed Serbs attacked the Kosovo police in the village of Banjskë in the north of the country, where police officer Afrim Bunjaku was killed. During the clashes that continued throughout the day, three of the attackers were killed in an event that has raised many concerns about stability in the region.
Kosovo accuses Serbia of organizing the attack, but official Belgrade has denied any connection with the armed group.
"The documentation before the eyes of the world of the involvement of at least four layers of the Serbian state, namely, the Presidency, the Intelligence Service, the Ministry of Defense and the Serbian army, in the inspiration, preparation, supply and participation in the terrorist attack in the village of Banjska, are additional motives for other destabilizing scenarios" , Kurti said.
The responsibility for the attack was taken by Milan Radoicic, the former vice president of the Serbian List, the largest political entity of the Serbs in Kosovo that was founded and is supported by Belgrade.
He was arrested in Serbia a few days after taking charge but was soon released by the Serbian authorities.
"The release of Milan Radoicic, less than 24 hours after his arrest, is evidence and a signal of the potential for regrouping and revenge, because on September 24, official and military Belgrade failed," said Prime Minister Kurti .
