Headphones for 4 euros, sneakers for 8 euros, or smart watches for 16 euros.

All these items are offered online by the Chinese firms TEMU , AliExpress or Shein , but they have a problem.

Some German consumer protection institutes analyzed some of the products offered and the test results are shocking.

Illegal, but also dangerous

Online shops from China not only sell goods that are illegal in the EU, but also dangerous. For example, one of the multi-functional electrical boxes that was tested was found to be ungrounded and could therefore cause electric shock.

Also, the buttons of some polo shirts contained the harmful substance DPB. The dose of the DPB substance that was found during the analysis was 40 times higher than the maximum level allowed in Europe.

The substance DPB affects the level of testosterone and the number of spermatozoa in men, while in pregnant women, it affects the development of the child.

In theory, manufacturers are held responsible in various ways for their products and of course strive to continually improve their safety controls.
