German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier sharply criticized his American counterpart, Donald Trump, for his behavior during his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in the Oval Office.

The meeting between the two leaders in Washington took place in a tense atmosphere, with visible moments of disagreement and coldness between them. This situation has caused numerous reactions from world leaders and political analysts, raising concerns about the future of international support for Ukraine in its conflict with Russia.

Steinmeier, known for his balanced stances in international diplomacy, did not hesitate to express his disappointment regarding the way the Ukrainian leader was treated during the meeting.

"Diplomacy fails when negotiating partners are humiliated in front of the whole world," he told the German news agency DPA, implying that the US president's behavior towards the Ukrainian leader was unacceptable.

The German president expressed surprise and concern about the current situation, emphasizing that Europe is facing a new geopolitical reality.

"The scene at the White House yesterday left me speechless. I would never have believed that a day would come when we would have to defend Ukraine from the US," he added.

Steinmeier's comments reflect growing concern within the European Union about changes in American foreign policy and the uncertainties these developments could bring to stability in Europe.

Germany and other European countries have increased their support for Ukraine, considering continued assistance vital to maintaining stability and security in the region.
