One passenger has died and 30 others have been injured after a Singapore Airlines flight from London to Singapore entered an area of ​​severe turbulence.

The Singapore-bound Boeing 777-300ER was forced to land in Bangkok at 15:45 local time.

There were 211 passengers and 18 crew members on board the aircraft, the airline said in a statement.

"Singapore Airlines sends its condolences to the bereaved family," the statement added.

At Suvarnabhumi Airport where the landing took place, an emergency mobilization was organized with ambulances and police vehicles to come to the aid of the injured.
